About the project
Lower Murray Water is upgrading the Red Cliffs water supply network to deliver reliable services and support future growth. This $10 million project includes:
- A new pump station on Woomera Avenue to accommodate future growth
- 4.4 km of new water mains
- Renewing switchboards and backup power for improved resilience
These works will address low or fluctuating water pressure and ensure consistent, reliable supply for decades to come.
The new water main will travel down Pumps Road into Red Cliffs where it will connect into the existing reticulation system.
The new water main will travel down Pumps Road, Cocklin Avenue, Fitzroy Avenue and Guava Avenue where it will connect into the existing reticulation system at Indi Avenue. What to expect
- Crews have already commenced the process to locate and map underground services before major works begin.
- Water mains in Guava Street will be constructed using a combination of underground boring to minimise surface disruption, and traditional trenching methods along the rest of the route.
- Traffic management will be in place, which may limit street parking, but property access will remain open.
Progress of works as of 19 May, 2026

Construction works are currently underway, with the new rising main kicking off along Fitzroy Avenue and then onto Pumps Road. Subsequent boring works will also follow along Guava Street to Indi Avenue.
The new Cliffside pump station on Woomera Avenue will also commence in May with the upgraded system expected to be operational by early 2027.

Yes. Access to your property will remain open throughout the works.
We will endeavour to minimise the likelihood of damage to nature strip sprinkler systems; however, rest assured any damage to pipes and fittings will be rectified as a part of our works.
There will be a brief disruption to your water supply when your property is connected to the new system. You will be given notice before this occurs, and interruptions typically do not exceed two hours.
Customers most directly affected by works (such as those with trenching or boring at the front of their properties) will receive hand-delivered letters and face-to-face contact. Other customers affected by service disruptions will receive information by mail. We will also provide updates when necessary as the project progresses.
